Deedar Singh Pardesi’s effective singing career started from the tender age of 14. His unmistakable voice was an instant hit with the public who were drawn to his clarity, deliberation of lyrics and heart touching melodies. “Tootte Dil Nahin Jurde”, “Goriye Ni Lae Ja Dard Wandake”, “Ah Bhi Ja Salma” and “Ayan Hoon Mehfil Mein Teri Dil Lutane Ke Liye” were some of his early outstanding hits and he was the first Asian Singer of East Africa to be approached by Philips Record Company to capture these songs on to Extended Play (EP) records.

Chaudvin Ka Chand was one of the numerous outstanding hits of Rafi Saab. Deedar Singh Pardesi had the honour of performing this song in front of Rafi Saab in 1961 at a special reception for Rafi Saab in Nairobi Kenya. On hearing the golden voice of Deedar Singh Pardesi, Rafi Saab came dashing to the stage and embraced him dearly and said “Khuda ne aap ko bahut achchhi awaaz di hai – aap yahan ke Rafi hain” From that time Deedar Singh Pardesi became known as “Mohd. Rafi of East Africa”. This was a milestone event in the singing life of Deedar Singh Pardesi – to this day Rafi Saab is his icon. God Bless the soul of the great Mohd. Rafi Saab – there will never be another versatile singer like Rafi Saab.
